The Campground is only minutes
from the heart of the Thousand
Islands, and the Mighty Saint
Lawrence River.
Tour boats leave the docks
from Alexandria Bay to take you
around all the islands, and tell
you the history of the area. One
of the major stops on the island
tour is the beautiful
Boldt Castle
with its tragic love story.
Alexandria Bay
is a tourist attraction with
many outdoor amusements, such as
Go-cart Racing,
Horseback Riding,
hot air ballooning,
helicopter rides
and
Golf.
There are also many restaurants,
souvenir shops, beaches, and
museums,
and it is just minutes from the
Thousand Island Bridge, which
goes to Canada.
Once in Canada, you can go to
any number of towns that cater
to the tourists, including
Brockville, Kingston, and
Gananoque.
In the other direction, there
are the historic towns of
Sackets Harbor
(which reenacts the War of 1812
each summer), and Henderson
Harbor (which is home of Bill
Saiff’s Rod & Reel show on
Public Television).
East of us is the City of
Watertown,
with the Salmon Run Mall, and
many shops on public Square. In
Watertown, we have Thompson Park
Zoo,
Old McDonald’s Farm,
a petting zoo, and a variety of
restaurants, from McDonalds to
Benny’s Steak House.

CHAUMONT
BAY
It's the largest freshwater bay
in the world, yet Chaumont Bay
in eastern Lake Ontario is
sometimes overlooked by anglers
because of its location midway
between two other famous fishing
destinations, Henderson Harbor
and Cape Vincent. Fishermen who
vacation at Chaumont will enjoy
a measure of peace along with
rod-bending action.
The angling fare in the bay
includes largemouth and
smallmouth bass, northern pike
and yellow perch. Anglers with
properly equipped boats will
also find that the bay's launch
areas are only a short run away
from the lake trout feeding
grounds off Point Peninsula and
Stony Island.
The village of Chaumont has a
public beach to occupy
non-anglers, along with a golf
course, tennis courts and
playgrounds. Potential side
trips include visits to the
area's many historic sites, such
as the 1812 battlefield at
Sackets Harbor, the old Madison
Barracks and the burial place of
explorer Zebulon Pike.

vacations, contact the Thousand
Islands International Council at
